According to the Vedas, astrology is the "eyes of the Vedas". It is one of the most important aspects of Vedic thought and Indian philosophy. Astrology is based on the configuration of the nine planets at the time of the birth of an individual. The placement of these planets in a person's horoscope and their permutations and combinations determine the course of events in his/her life.

Each planet has a benefic and a malefic influence. The degree of this effect is determined by a host of factors - far too many to be enumerated here. However, what is sure is that some these planets have a negative influence that leads to various problems. Similarly, the positives in a person's life are related to the favorable influence of these planets.
