This is the ASUS Padfone 2, the latest evolution in the company's unique mobile phone/tablet hybrid concept. The brain is encased in a 4.7in handset, and can be docked into the 10.1in Padfone 2 Station for a full tablet experience.
The key to the Padfone concept is Dynamic Display, an ASUS developed technology. When the phone is docked into the tablet, the display switches to tablet mode automatically so you can pick up exactly where you left off but with all the benefits of a tablet-sized screen.
The new updated handset now features a 4.7in screen that stretches to an HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. The Corning Fit Glass screen is scratch resistant while the anti-fingerprint coating keeps it smudge free.
The processor has received a significant speed boost and is now powered by a 1.5GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and Adreno 320 GPU. This makes it more responsive for games, apps and other processor intensive tasks. PadFone 2 comes with up to 64GB of fast internal storage, which helps to ensure smooth interactions and speedy access to your apps and games.
It'll be able to hop onto the latest super-fast data networks thanks to its built in 4G support, promising download speeds up to 100 megabits per second depending on the network.
Both cameras have been improved. The front facing camera can take pictures up to 1.2megapixels while the rear can now take snaps at an astonishing 13megapixels. The large f/2.4 aperture on the rear camera also makes it ideal for low light situations as more light falls on the sensor creating better photos. HD video can be recorded at up to 1080p, and there are also high-speed recording modes at 720p and 480p. What's more, you can snap full-resolution photos while simultaneously recording HD video without interruption.
A beefed up battery in the phone increases 3G talktime to 16 hours and standby to a staggering 14 days under typical conditions. The PadFone 2 Station's 5000 milliamp battery extends 3G talk time to 36 hours and also recharges the docked PadFone 2.
