Description:
We present a novel social game "Epitome" for photo album summarization as a Facebook application. Epitome is a social application, which provides many pleasant hours while playing it and enjoying photos. At the same time, it summarizes photo albums and provides useful research data. A player logs in to the game with his Facebook account and allows access to his photo gallery. At this point, the player can select between two games. The first game is called "Select the Best!". The goal of this game is to allow user to select the most representative photo of a reduced set of images. If the player chooses a photo which is the most frequently selected by other players, then he gets awarded. The second game is called "Split It!". In this game, the user has to split this reduced set of images into two distinct parts in order to mimic separation of the album into different events. At the end, we integrate results of all users to produce a summarization for the whole photo album. These photos can be used to create a collage of an album, a cover for an album, or to be included in a photo book.
