The new Federal Aviation Regulation FAR Part 117 rules governing flightcrew member duty and rest requirements are more complex than before. The FAR 117 Calculator mobile application can aid in reducing the complexity of memorizing these new rules. The app returns the maximum flight duty period (FDP), when the maximum allowed FDP ends, and the maximum flight time limit (FTL) according to the parameters described in FAR Part 117 for UnAugmented and Augmented flight operations. The FAR 117 Calc app also calculates time spans for block times to help you determine whether you will exceed the maximum FTL. The app also returns the same data for reserve flightcrew members, which have different restrictions. The app is available for Android mobile devices on the Android Marketplace. Iphone and Windows Phone 7 apps will be released later this year.
