Ayubowan, welcome to the August issue in the second volume of the online IT magazine diGIT.

We've had quite a lot to cover last month with some very important events.

The University of Colombo, School of Computing organized a gaming workshop where Dr Per Backlund from Sweden highlighted some of the research that they had undertaken into game based learning and serious gaming. Take a look at some of the highlights in our video coverage of the workshop.

There was also the breakfast meeting organized by SLASSCOM where Secretary to the Sri Lankan Treasury Dr P. B. Jayasundera was the keynote speaker emphasizing on the importance of the IT and BPO sector in taking Sri Lanka forward.

Then there was the big announcement of the first IT company to go for an IPO (Initial Public Offering) on the Sri Lankan stock market. Check inside this issue to see which company will get listed on the 5th August.

The World Cyber Games Asia 2010 took place in Singapore and also featured a team from Sri Lanka. Do checkout the gamer.lk featured article and an interview with one of the success performers during the tour.

Intel along with the Ministry of Education relaunched the skoool.lk website with the participation of Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardana and Vice President / General Manager World Ahead Program of Intel. It was also an opportunity to felicitate the winners of ISEF 2010 where Ganindu Nanayakkara of Ananda College was able to bag 4 international awards. We also have a short interview with this bright individual.

We have a few more '10 minute' episodes as well. Hope you are checking for updates as we release them.

Let's highlight a few articles from the numerous articles we have for this month.

We have Amitha, our expert in the e-marketing side, this time focusing on how we can use 'Pay Per Click' to advertise on search engines and about Google AdWords. Check his article and see how you can get your site into the top tier.

Do check out these articles and many more presented in the August issue of diGIT.

Let me end this month's editorial with a quotation by Reverend Edward A. Malloy who once said

'A college degree is not a sign that one is a finished product but an indication a person is prepared for life.'

Happy reading!
